Synopsis: “A reporter and her ex-husband investigate a cursed video tape that is rumored to kill the viewer seven days after watching it.” source
RINGU is the reason I started actively and intentionally searching out and watching foreign horror films. After RINGU, I realized there was a whole world of movies I’d been missing out on. Movies that, generally, went deeper and darker than anything I’d seen from the States.
I love to re-watch RINGU, but there are several scenes where I have to hold up my hand in front of my face to filter out some of its scariness. Hey, at least it’s not as bad as when I re-watch JU-ON — I have to actually cover my ears and close my eyes on certain scenes in that scary-ass movie.

What’s your favorite foreign horror film?
I have watched the American version and I am way too chicken to watch the original. Eventually, I will have hyped it up in my mind so much that I *will* watch it and say, “Well, that wasn’t so bad.” As least, that’s my hope…
I still need to see Ringu! But I love Japanese horror. Audition is my pick.

I love this one. As you know, I picked The Ring as my favorite remake. I actually sought out the original after seeing the remake, and then I read the book. 🙂 Ju-On is also really good. I can’t decide which one is more scary. The sound in Ju-On gets me every time.
Here’s my favorite foreign film (this was a hard category!): https://castlemacabre.blogspot.com/2019/10/30-day-horror-movie-challenge-favorite_19.html
Oh, and I’m behind because I skipped a day. 🙂
