A sequel to 7 Must-See Indie Horror Movies, one of my most visited posts, presents five more must-see independent horror movies for all the movie junkies out there.
Okay, technically, a couple of these may not be classified as horror but rather thrillers; they’re worth sharing whatever the genre. Zombies, mind-benders, slashers and the paranormal are all featured below.
Please note: I haven’t watched these movies in their entirety yet, only the trailers.
COLIN (2008)

My comments: What’s the major downside to loving Indie horror? The seemingly endless wait for films you’re dying to see. This is one of those movies that I heard about a couple years ago but still isn’t available for rent. I finally gave in and added it to my Amazon Wish List.

I COME WITH THE RAIN (2008)

My comments: I’ll admit this one looks somewhat all over the place; but, with a cast that includes Josh Hartnett and Elias Koteas, I have to watch it, someday, somehow. My attempt to buy it from an overseas seller on eBay failed miserably.

BITTER FEAST (2010)

My comments: Finally! This one’s available to rent or buy. The premise is one writers and critics should enjoy and, perhaps, think about whenever they start to trash someone’s work.

MONSTERS (2010)

My comments: I love a good alien movie, so when I first heard about this one last year, I added it to my must-see list. The low budget coupled with the more character driven sci-fi story – versus million dollar F/X and action – are right up my alley.

My comments: The director and the plot should make for one helluva film, at least that’s what I’m hoping. And I suppose the yummy Hayden Christensen doesn’t hurt. What?! He’s a good actor, too; I recommend LIFE AS A HOUSE and SHATTERED GLASS as proof (both are dramas).

I’ve been waiting to see the last two on your list for awhile now. Here’s a few more that I would add. One, Rubber. It’s a twisted little Cronenberg type movie about a killer…tire. Yes, that’s right, a tire. I watched it a few nights ago and it was actually very good. Second is The Troll Hunter. It’s a film from Norway about a guy who, uh, hunts trolls. It’s another Blair Witch found footage type film, but it works. Felt a little bit like Jurassic Park to me. Thumbs up. Lastly is a Korean movie that I keep hearing about that’s getting rave reviews called I Saw The Devil. I hope to check it out soon. Or maybe I’ll just wait for the American remake. LOL

Thanks for the lead on the first two. I SAW THE DEVIL has been in my “Saved” Netflix queue for a while; I’m a big fan of Ji-woon Kim.
